Khan Younis camp (born amidst the siege)
The root
Yahya Ibrahim Hassan Sinwar was born on October 29, 1962, in the Khan Younis refugee camp, after his family was displaced from the city of Majdal (Ashkelon) during the 1948 Nakba. He grew up in an environment marked by deprivation and oppression, which honed his leadership qualities early on. He headed the Islamic Bloc while studying at the Islamic University of Gaza, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Arabic, a fact that later explained his eloquence and exceptional oratory skills.
Just as strong wood is tempered by the pressures of nature, Sinwar's will was forged in the hustle and bustle of the camp. We believe that strong roots are the secret to survival, and therefore we choose the bases of our furniture from the most durable woods to endure for decades to come.
The epic of captivity and imprisonment
Sinwar was arrested in 1988 and sentenced to four life sentences (426 years). He served 22 consecutive years behind bars, including long periods in solitary confinement. He was no ordinary prisoner; he became the "Dean of Prisoners" and head of the Supreme Leadership Committee for Hamas prisoners. He learned Hebrew and mastered it to understand his enemy's mindset. He authored his famous novel, "The Thorn of the Carnation," which tells the story of the Palestinian struggle, and translated numerous political books. He suffered a serious head injury while imprisoned and underwent life-saving surgery. He was finally released in the "Wafa al-Ahrar" prisoner exchange deal in 2011. In the confines of his cell, Sinwar cultivated a mindset that encompassed the world. We design our sofas to be your personal space for reflection and intellectual development; a place where you gather your strength to shape your future, no matter the challenges surrounding you.
Field engineering and leadership
In 2017, he was elected head of the movement in the Gaza Strip, succeeding Ismail Haniyeh. Sinwar redefined the "rules of engagement," focusing on building military strength and strategic alliances. He was known for his asceticism and frequent appearances among the people in the streets of Gaza, despite constant threats against his life. He was the chief architect of complex political and military operations that transformed the region, proving that leadership is not a position, but a constant presence on the front lines. Leadership is about remaining steadfast under pressure. The "Hero" sofa reflects this prestige; its understated design, confident colors (apricot and beige), and unwavering durability are befitting the "leader's" status in his home.
The final scene... the couch of eternity
Sinwar rose to the battlefield in Tel al-Sultan alongside his comrades, wearing his military gear and wielding his weapon. The scene that shook the world was him sitting on a sofa amidst the rubble of a destroyed house, wounded and besieged, yet still resisting the drone attack with a wooden stick until his last breath. This scene transformed the sofa from a mere comfort into a platform of resistance and a historical symbol of unwavering defiance, even in the face of physical weakness. This scene is the true essence of our brand. For us, the sofa is a stance. We honor that moment by crafting furniture befitting heroes who face their destiny with dignity, sitting with honor amidst the wreckage of challenges.
